RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 21, 2004 FW Murphy Takes Full Ownership of Murphy Power Ignition TULSA, OK, JUNE 21 – FW Murphy has announced that it has assumed full ownership of Murphy Power Ignition, a manufacturer of ignition controls and components for industrial gas engines. Murphy Power Ignition was originally a joint venture between FW Murphy and Power Ignition and Controls (a division of Spartan Controls). FW Murphy recently purchased the remaining shares of the company from Power Ignition Controls. “This decision will allow FW Murphy to focus more of its resources on research and development of new products,” said Terry Baldwin, FW Murphy Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Oil and Gas. “MPI is vital to FW Murphy’s future, so we wanted to own it 100%. This gives us more control of our future business direction.” MPI and its ignition products will be marketed as a new product line in the FW Murphy oil and gas business unit. The additional products will significantly expand the options available to engine manufacturers and operators. “MPI is a key component for FW Murphy to provide complete engine management systems,” said Jack Maley, Vice President of Operations for Oil and Gas. “We plan to offer more engine solutions as well as standard engine products. MPI will help create and provide the technology we need to fulfill the needs of our customers.” Murphy Power Ignition (MPI), based in Tulsa, OK, manufactures advanced technology products to maximize the power and operation of industrial spark-ignited natural gas-powered engines. Applications include oil and gas, construction, cogeneration and agriculture, or wherever ignition controls are needed to provide a more cost-efficient or emission-controlled operation.
