PRODUCT DISCONTINATION POLICY
One of our strategies to reduce costs involves an annual review of all part numbers sold during a previous 12 month period. As a result, a number of high cost, very low volume part numbers are no longer offered. However, in many cases, our core products or parts kits will handle the same need. As a group, low volume part numbers have contributed less than 1% to sales, but at a significant cost that cannot reasonably be captured with acceptable price increases or low volume adders. We tried to offset these higher costs in recent years with a low volume adder (LVA). This approach did not provide enough of an increase to offset these parts’ higher costs. Plus, customer feedback on the LVA was not positive. Rather than continue an ineffective pricing approach (which customers did not like), and increase prices (plus allocate some of these costs to our higher volume core products), we decided to eliminate these products (and the LVA). Discontinuation of very low volume products is ultimately in the best interest of our customers as it will help keep our core products competitive. Please contact our sales personnel for questions or assistance in providing alternative solutions. You can still view and download technical literature on many of our discontinued products. |
